MARY WANKURU CHACHA

Mary Wankuru Chacha has 7 children. She wants to stop having children but she says her husband doesn't want to stop. Her husband and her saved her two oldest daughter from excision.





CLEMENCIA MAHIRI

Clemencia Mahiri is 85 years old and is taking care of four orphan boys age 2 to 8 years old.


ADIJA GATI

Adija Gati has 3 children. She is married to a woman, Teresia Megani. Some women do that in Kuria in order to share the work. It's called "Nyumbambuke" in Swahili. She wants to be able to stop welcoming different men into her house when she is hungry

ESTHER MONJE

Esther Monje is 55 years old and is a farmer, like most of the women living in Kuria. She cannot afford education for all her children. Only one of them goes to school. The other kids collect wood and sell them. They walk 30 metres every morning to get water for all the family.


Immaculate Ngarasi

Immaculate is the secretary of the Women's Group. She found out she was HIV-positive when she was pregnant of her last baby (the boy in her arm). When she asked her husband to get tested for AIDS, he just kept quiet
